TBA received the ‘Best IT Solution’ award at Monday night’s glittering IBJ Awards ceremony in Antwerp. In recognition for CommTrac’s continuing success in the world of bulk and general cargo terminal operating systems, this was the seventh time TBA has picked up this award, and their eighth in total, including 2023’s ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award.
Since 2019, TBA's customer base has grown dramatically. From just five sites running their latest release (version 4) in 2019, the company now boasts 37 live sites with eight more in the pipeline. This growth is a result of nine new partnerships, including significant projects with PD Ports and Associated British Ports (ABP).
“I’m delighted for our team to collect this award yet again,” said TBA Doncaster’s Managing Director, Chris Hicks. “This further establishes CommTrac as the leading TOS in the bulk sector. Many thanks to all our colleagues, customers and partners for helping to achieve this honour.”
David Huck, Peel Ports Chief Operating Officer, presents the 'IT Solution' award to David Trueman, Commercial Director, and Edward Yarborough, Automation Director, with event host, Ray Girvan.
Looking ahead, TBA's roadmap for CommTrac is filled with exciting developments. The company is focusing on job allocation, expanding container operations, and enhancing general cargo functionalities. The team are also developing dashboards for better data insights and user interaction, all aimed at streamlining operations and improving overall efficiency.
In addition to Hicks, TBA Doncaster was also represented at the award ceremony by Commercial Director, David Trueman, Automation Director, Edward Yarborough, Head of CommTrac Sales, Glynn Thomas, EMEA Sales Manager, Mo Dualeh, and Marketing Manager, James Watson. They were also pleased to be joined by guests from long-term CommTrac users ABP, PD Ports and Peel Ports, all of whom were shortlisted for awards.

"Monday night was another fantastic event organised by IBJ," said Commercial Director, David Trueman. “While the obvious highlight for us was receiving our eighth award, it was also brilliant to see the great work of at PD Ports’ Tees Dock recognised with them winning in the ‘Best Dry Bulk Port’ category.”
The IBJ Awards take place in a different European port city each year. Next year’s event has already been scheduled for Liverpool. “We look forward to attending the 2025 event,” said Hicks. “It’s a great way to celebrate everything the industry achieves each year and we’re always proud to be a part of it.”
