We are recruiting an experienced Software Engineer on a permanent basis to join our team in Leicester. We produce market leading, large-scale, distribution and supply chain software products used by customers worldwide and is aiming for further substantial growth over the next 5 years.

After a period of training you should expect to also become involved in both the implementation and support of our systems, which operate 24/7, gaining exposure to the full software product lifecycle.

Working within one of our Agile development teams, you'll report to a senior developer or system architect and you'll be responsible for design and development of code as well as maintenance and support of existing installations.
 
There will be occasions where you may need to visit and work at customer and other TBA company locations, both within the UK and internationally.

You will ideally hold a 2:1 BSc Honours Degree, or higher, in an appropriate subject or have equivalent industry experience.

    Skills & Experience

  • You will ideally hold a 2:1 BSc Honours Degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent and already possess software development experience within industry.
  • Significant experience in software development.
  • C# Programming Language.
  • Microsoft .Net Core
  • Entity Framework Core
  • Domain Driven Design/Development
  • Experience and appreciation of Agile development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Microsoft Visual Studio & Microsoft Azure DevOps.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Database Systems.
  • Web APIs, RESTful, SOAP
  • Message broker technologies (e.g ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)
  • The ability to apply previous experience to new problems and to estimate work accurately.
  • Source control using Git
  • Highly proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a team within an Agile framework, typical development activities involve:

  • Refinement and estimation of development tasks
  • Participation in scrum ceremonies; daily stand-ups, refinement, estimation, planning, reviews and retrospectives
  • Participation in scaled agile ceremonies – e.g. Daily Nexus stand-ups
  • Completing development tasks to the “definition of done” including peer code reviews and developer testing
  • Ensuring your code meets our coding standards and overall code quality requirements
  • Working closely with QA/Automation testers in ensuring new code meets both functional and non-functional requirements
  • Working closely with peers from other TBA business lines where integration is required with other software products within the TBA portfolio.
  • Carrying out Incident analysis and investigation to find and address root cause.
  • Creating and maintaining appropriate levels of documentation

  • In time you will be expected to join our Out of Hours support team on a rota basis.
