Job Description

Graduate or Sandwich Placement – Junior Software Engineer/Developer
Business Line: TOS (Terminal Operating Systems)
Duration – 1 Year fixed term contract
Start: by 1st September at the latest
 
Here at TBA Group, Leicester we are recruiting a Junior Software Engineer/Developer, either a Graduate or Sandwich Placement for a one-year fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity as a first role in industry or, to hone your skills you’ve learnt so far on your course, before completing your final year at university.
 
This role would be aligned to our Autostore TOS (Terminal Operating System) where the primary aim is to control the movement and storage of containers in and around a container terminal. The objective of a TOS is to provide a set of computerised procedures to organise cargo, machines and people within the facility to enable a seamless link to efficiently and effectively manage the facility, it’s exciting stuff!.

Key technologies used within this business area are:
-          Development coding using C#, .net core, EF core, Docker & latest Visual Studio
-          SQL Server Database
-          Development methodologies such as Domain Driven Design & Design Patterns

Delivering high quality customer-facing and internal projects.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for graduates or students who are studying a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.

    Skills & Experience

  • Currently studying a BSc Honours Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Highest ethics and integrity.
  • The ability to multi-task and the discipline to meet strict deadlines.
  • An understanding of Software Development methodologies and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as a detail-oriented approach.
  • Good interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to collaborate closely with colleagues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, to both your colleagues and customers at a non-technical level.
  • Be highly motivated, with the self-discipline to manage workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Key Responsibilities

  • You will work within one of our cross-functional agile development teams and report to a team leader.  A typical day in a development team involves:
  • Writing backend code and working with APIs and databases
  • Using Azure DevOps for software development lifecycle
  • Collaborating with co-located and remote team members
  • Opportunities to pair programming and code review other team members’ work
  • Liaising with stakeholders and refining user stories
